Could you give it to me for a $1.10?! What about $1.05?!!

Tonight I sit here in a slightly better state than I was in a week and a half ago and yet, still very distractible to say the least. (Okay...a couple of weeks ago I went straight to the fridge for an adult beverage practically every day after work so I'm obviously in a much better state!) Last Monday we received some very good news that the Department of Social Welfare plans on issuing our orphanage a new license in the next 2 - 4 weeks. This was amazing news and although we appreciated that little miracle, we are still waiting with so many unknowns. So we wait...and we wait....It's amazing how long families wait to meet their children, considering it's hard to go an hour without thinking about it! I continue to try to remind myself to live in the moment and enjoy my day for what it is today, but this is easier said than done!

I'm new at this whole blog thing so I don't really know where to start. Maybe I can start by admitting that we have looked at our finances and realized that we need to do some fundraising for this adoption...the lovely ladies at the bank very gently nudged us this way as well! The need to do fundraising is not a big deal; it's the humility that goes along with asking others for help that seems to be the challenge for both of us! So tonight, I will simply say thank you yet again to my family! They are incredibly supportive and they have no problems asking for help on our behalf! My mom and my sisters can be incredibly persuasive so I am happy to have them by my side every step of the way. I have to say though that my mom is the kind of person who tries to barter with the lady at the Bay counter to get 10 percent off her shirt even though she only scratched and won 5 percent! Or the poor kid at McDonald's making minimum wage who cannot get her a better deal on the 2 for 1 burger promo! She pushes a little and then inevitably giggles and shrugs her shoulders exclaiming that it's always worth a try. Maybe this is where my pride issues stem from...

Well, I've polished off a bag of chips and successfully avoided my work yet again tonight! My dear husband is out of town for the week so I had planned on being very productive...not a great start! Have a great week everyone! I hope that some of you get some wonderful news very soon!!
